WINE & ROSES ®      Weigela florida 'Alexandra' pp10,772

Isn't it romantic! Intoxicating, dark burgundy-purple leaves shimmer like a fine wine! Hot pink-rose colored flowers add a touch of romance when displayed against the dark glossy foliage!

Leaf color of Wine & Roses intensifies to near black in late summer and does not fade to green like Java Red and other older selections.

The tubular flowers are adored by Hummingbirds!

Try using Wine & Roses Weigela as a cut branch in a flower arrangement. The leaves provide wonderful color and texture.

Weigela WINE & ROSES® has changed Weigela forever!  The rich dark burgundy foliage is much darker than that of older varieties like Java Red.   It contrasts beautifully with the rosy-pink flowers, making for a high impact display in the garden.

This variety produces copious amounts of flowers in spring, and will re-bloom throughout the summer.

WINE & ROSES® can be enjoyed as either an accent plant or used for a dramatic mass planting.  It is fast growing and trouble free, making it an easy way to add season long color to the garden.  The richly colored foliage makes its branches an excellent addition to cut flower bouquets.

What people are saying about Wine & Roses ....

On our clay-laden, new construction lot, I was worried about our landscaping. Of everything we've planted, our Proven Winners flowering shrub has performed best and most beautifully. It's been a quick grower. It gets lots of hot direct sunlight in the summer months and has thrived--and it flowers phenomenally. It also survived a very harsh southern Michigan winter. We get so many compliments on this shrub, and we love it. I'm going to plant more of these!

I bought this plant in the spring of 2006. I planted it immediately, in a raised bed, in full sun. I did not have any flowers in 2006; but the leaf color was terrific...definitely a dark burgundy. It is now March 2007 and this plant is 4ft tall and 3 ft wide. The shape is upright and full...very nice! Leaves have begun to emerge and I am waiting on the flowers. An added bonus is, I've had no pest/bug problems.

Overall, I am VERY satisfied with the look and performance of this plant.

Great plant! Flowers profusely in mid-late spring. Easy & beatiful-great color. Grew slowly initially, finally grew about a foot just this spring. Have had plant for 3 yrs total.
