(Weig-ela: Named for C. E. Weigel, 1748-1831, German Professor)

 

'Carnaval'  

(syn. 'Courtalor') New excitement unseen before in a Weigela. Red, white, and pink, thick azalea-like flowers cover this new triploid hybrid from France. FIRST CHOICE AWARD '96.

 ‘Eyecatcher’  (ppaf )

Noted plantsman David Tristram delivers another great plant. Electric yellow variegated foliage and dark red flowers in the spring make Eyecatcher live up to its name. It’s a great impulse plant that easily adds season long color to any garden, container or landscape. Zone 5, 2 feet, gr 1

 

 FRENCH LACE

(W. f. 'Brigela' PPAF) An exciting new variegated selection with dark red flowers and bright yellow leaf margins. A very dramatic improvement in variegated Weigela. Developed by Andre Briant Nursery.

FINE WINE   

 (W. f. 'Bramwell' ppaf, cbraf) The next generation of Wine & Roses with the same great dark burgundy foliage but with compact mounded habit similar to Spiraea japonica. It’s a refined plant with smaller leaves, abundant pink flowers and excellent texture. A great plant for the front of the border, the perennial bed, or used as a low foundation plant. The propagation of, and or the sale of plant parts is prohibited without a license. Patent/trademark tag required.

' Minuet' 

A dwarf less than 3 ft. fall. Fragrant, two-toned magenta-rose and light purple flowers bloom freely for 3-6 weeks. The leaves are green with a hint of red. Hybridized by Felicitas Svejda of Ag-Canada.

 MY MONET   

 (W. f. 'Verweig' ppaf cbraf) Make an impression with this colorfully variegated, dwarf Weigela. Creamy edged leaves are infused with various shade of pink. This colorful sport of ‘Tango’ is very hardy and easy to grow. Great for the perennial garden or mixed border. A great new plant developed by Bert VerHoef of the Netherlands.

'Polka' 

The best pink Weigela? Many think so! Large bright pink flowers cover this compact 3-5 ft. plant. Extremely long bloom period; June to September. A very hardy and desirable Weigela. (COPF)

'Red Prince'

An excellent, dark red Weigela with abundant flowers that resist fading. A hardy, rebloomer from Iowa State.

'Rubidor'  

Put on your sunglasses! Bright, neon yellow foliage and ruby red flowers make a real attention grabber. A branch sport of Bristol Ruby which occasionally shows variegation. Introduced by Andre Briant Nursery.

 RUBY QUEEN

(ppaf, Canadian BR)  A new semi-dwarf selection with attractive reddish-burgundy foliage This intermediate plant is larger and more rounded on habit than Midnight Wine, yet substantially smaller than Wine & Roses. Perfect for the front of the border or mixed in the perennial garden. Very popular in Europe. Developed by Herman Geers. Propagation is restricted. 

'Rumba'

Dark red flowers with a yellow throat cover this plant in June. The foliage is light green tinged with dark brown. A semi-dwarf, 3 ft. tall plant. FIRST CHOICE AWARD '95

'Sunny Princess'

A delightful variegated sport of Pink Princess. Pleasing, clean narrow bands of gold encircle each leaf of this compact plant. Hardiness is superior to that of 'Variegata'.

Pale yellow-green variegated foliage and pink flowers which fade to white provide seasons of color. AWARDS: AGM

'White Knight'

 (PP #8348) Extremely long blooming! Light pink buds open a pure white and continue to bloom all summer long! The form and habit are similar to Red Prince. A marvelous Weigela from Iowa State.

WINE & ROSESâ

 (W. f. 'Alexandra' PP# 10,772)  WOW. The color blows ‘Java Red’ away! Dark burgundy-purple foliage and intense rosy-pink colored flowers jump against the dark rich foliage! Full sun for darkest color. Demand is high - so don't get caught short! A knock your socks off shrub developed by Herman Geers of Holland.
